Hello from Sovereign Island!
It’s a cold and showery April day (I thought it was supposed to warm up in Spring?) but I’m being kept warm by the satisfied glow of knowing Something To Wish For and its counterpart, Something Extra To Wish For, are now both out there for people to find. And read. I’d really like people to read them. They’re books, after all.
Today has been a long time coming. At some point last year I thought today would never come at all. I last released a novel in 2017 and I’ve spent most of my time since then writing. I enjoy writing. Writing is fun. Putting what I’ve written up for other people to find is terrifying.
Today has mostly been spent designing graphics. Thankfully, software has developed a lot since 2017 so creating a portfolio of images containing my book cover is now much easier to produce. I’ve also spent some time updating the playlists so they’re showing up correctly on my website. Each of my books has (and will have) a Spotify playlist available to listen to. Music is a huge part of my life and the books wouldn’t have been written without those songs.
Think of your favourite moment in a film you enjoy – I’d be willing to bet that there’s some sort of sound attributed to that moment. The songs I’ve collected are my books’ soundtracks. And I’ve done my best to make sure that each playlist contains fresh content too.
So what’s next?
Good question. As you can see on my website there’s a lot in the pipeline. I’ve also been working in the background on what I’m currently referring to as Sovereign Island Shorts, a series of novellas all set on my fictional island, but much in the same vein as the novels: music, mental health, and all the best of friendships.
There’s plenty going on and there’s a lot to look forward to.
